Antarctic Pen Pal

Our class has a pen pal in Antarctica! Her name is Julie Raine and she works at McMurdo Station coordinating flights for scientific research. The kids have written her letters and are awaiting her reply. She will send us amazing pictures of penguins, seals and killer whales. Last year, Flat Stanley accompanied Julie on her trip. Unfortunately, on the way home Julie and Flat Stanley were in Christchurch, New Zealand when the earthquake hit. Fortunately Julie was unharmed, but all her luggage, including the already flattened Stanley, were in her hotel which could not be accessed after the quake. We are sending another Flat Stanley by e-mail, so maybe we will  get to see a 2012 Flat Stanley in Antarctica. We'll be posting photos of last year's Stanley and his adventures as well as some awesome photos very soon.
